مشخصات پروژه کابین Bear Run

این ساختمان متوسط ​​و پایدار که در یک مکان بارانی زمخت واقع در کوهپایه های ناهموار و شمال غربی کوه های آبشار واقع شده است ، در یک منظره بزرگ حضور بزرگی دارد. این محوطه با قله های دراماتیک و کوهستانی احاطه شده است ، دامنه آن به سمت شرق است و مشرف به یک جنگل بزرگ است. مراجعان ما ساختماني را مي خواستند كه از منظره وحشي در آن حضور داشته و از آن تسليم شود. این دوگانگی تبدیل به برچسب موضوعی شد که طراحی را آگاه می کرد.

طراحی فضا

برای حفظ منظره ناهموار ، ردپای ساختمان را به مستطیل ۱۰۰ در ۳۰ محدود كردیم. دو ساختمان در این اثر به شیوه یینگ / یانگ با هم مخلوط می شوند و یک فضای بیرونی معقول را در خود جای می دهند که قابل دفاع و متنوع است. تراس غربی به داخل محوطه حک شده است و از زمین پایین می رود و به یک وان خیساندن در پشت دیوار شیشه ای منتهی می شود.

ایوان جنوب شرقی و پله سنگی یادبود ، هر دو پوشیده از سقف در حال افزایش ، از بالای محل بالا می روند و از باران و آفتاب تابستانی پناه می برند. هر دو فضا در یک “باغ باران” بینابینی قرار می گیرند – مکانی که باران های فصلی جمع می شوند و به سمت رودخانه زیر سرازیر می شوند.

روند طراحی

این بنا به گونه ای فصلی گسترده ساخته شده است که در تابستان بسیار سخاوتمند است ، زیرا قابلیت زندگی در بیرون ایوان ها و تراس ها ، در زمستان معتدل و کارآمد گسترش می یابد. کابین ۸۹۰  فوت مربعی دارای یک اتاق عالی ، حمام و روپوش خوابیده در شیشه های فریم است. همه اتاقها به سمت چشم اندازهای دور کوه باز است.

استودیوی ۱۰۰۰ فوت مربعی دارای یک اتاق موسیقی ، کارگاه و یک شیروانی مهمان است. دیوار غربی پوشیده از پوستی از پلی کربنات است و در طول روز فضای داخلی اتاق را در معرض نور آفتاب قرار می دهد و تراس بیرونی در نمایش نمایشی از نور در شب. اشکال ساختمان زاویه ای و ابتدایی است ، بر خلاف قله های کوه اطراف. نتیجه یک ساختمان نمایشی ، فریبنده ساده ، عمیقاً ریشه در سایت و به طور غیر منتظره ای واضح و مدرن است.

project description of Bear Run Cabin 

Located on a rain-drenched site in the rugged, north-western foothills of the Cascade Mountains, this modest, sustainable building has a big presence in a big landscape. Surrounded by dramatic, mountain peaks, the site slopes to the east and overlooks a large woodlot. Our clients wanted a building that had presence in and subservience to the wild landscape. This duality became the thematic tag that informed the design.

In order to preserve the rugged landscape, we limited the building’s footprint to a 30’ by 100’ rectangle. Two buildings are juxtaposed within this footprint in a ying/yang fashion, leaving a sinuous exterior space that is defensible and varied.

The western terrace is carved into the site, stepping down into the earth, leading to a soaking tub set behind a glass wall. The south-eastern porch and monumental stair, both covered by a soaring roof, rise above the site, offering shelter from the rain and summer sun. Both spaces meet in an interstitial “rain garden” – a place where seasonal rains gather and flow toward the river below.

design process

The building is designed to be seasonally expansive – generous in summer when livability expands outside onto the porches and terraces, modest and efficient in winter. The 890 SF cabin houses a great room, bath and sleeping loft clad in frameless glass. All rooms open toward distant views of the mountains. The 1000 SF studio houses a music room, workshop and guest loft.

The west wall is clad in a polycarbonate skin, bathing the interiors in sunlight during the day, and the exterior terrace in a dramatic display of light at night. Building forms are angular and elemental, not unlike the surrounding mountain peaks. The result is a dramatic building, deceptively simple, deeply rooted in the site and unexpectedly crisp and modern.

Sustainable features of Bear Run Cabin 

Sustainable features include geothermal heat, plantation-sourced wood, super insulation, and passive solar. The cabin’s shell was built by a local contractor and finished by the client on a tight budget over several years. The cabin’s name comes from a particularly memorable experience he had during construction.
